Because where else do you find a DTM Opel racing a wacky 750 hp Lotus Esprit?

Ooh, is that the latest incarnation of the KRB Lotus? That guy is a madman, his Quattro is incredible.

Yep, finished second in both races. The DTM Opel was untouchable though, as it should be compared to a lot of the homemade stuff.

We have a class like that here, called GTRNZ. It has 4 sub classes from GT1 to GT4, with the only split being on lap times.. The organizers of the class have also written their rules in a way that it overrides most of the rules in the national rulebook around building a car that is too fast. To put that in perspective, a modified 911 GT3 cup is mid to front of GT2, and a 1200hp Daytona prototype is winning GT1 at the moment.

That’s a good way to do it I suppose, even if it might be confusing to see a car called “GT3" race in GT2!

They’ve created two new classes here: one to allow modified cars like the Lotus Esprit here called GT+, and one to allow old single make cup cars called GT5. They split it in two races between GT+ to GT3 and GT4 to GT5 here if I remember correctly.
